Barbara Marie Zavatkay
January 14th, 2021
Barbara Marie Zavatkay (Campbell) It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Marie Zavatkay announce her passing. Barbara, 81, formerly of Stuart, Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at her home in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Barbara was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. After marriage she lived in New York, Connecticut, Florida and her home away from home in North Georgia. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, William F. Zavatkay and their five children: Laura Zavatkay (John Mueller), Tampa, FL; Linda Bunting (Rick), Cocoa Beach, FL; William Zavatkay Jr. (Dana, Ph.D.), Atlanta, GA; Diane McGinn (Matthew), Hobe Sound, FL; and Kathleen Dennis (Patrick, M.D.), New Orleans, LA; and her seven grandchildren: Meagan and Ashley Bunting; Emily, Sean, and Ryan McGinn; and Isabella and Gabrielle Dennis. Barbara was the daughter of Edgar (former Chief of Police) and Astrid Campbell. She is survived by her sister Judith Chamay (Anthony) and brother John Campbell (Martha), and brother-in-law Frederick Zavatkay (Joyce) and five nieces and nephews (Christopher, Kary, and Sara; Kimberly and Leslie). She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Their relationship as husband and wife was a love like no other. This quote best describes William’s love for her, “I have completely fallen for you. Everything you say, everything you are. You’re my first thought in the morning, you’re my last thought before I fall asleep, and you’re almost every thought in between.” The love of family is what filled her heart. To the world she was a mother. To our family, she was the world. There will be a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stuart, Florida or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. May God hold you in comfort as you wait to unite with family again. WE LOVE YOU, and you will always be in our hearts and prayers.
