Barry Booker

August 31st, 1950 - February 19th, 2024

Born Barry Eugene Booker on August 31, 1950 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to parents Leon Booker Sr and Rose Booker (Sharp). His parents had nine kids total with Barry being the 4th oldest. Barry had his fair share of ups and downs growing up having lost his parents at a young age, but never the less he persevered. A star athlete in football, he chose to go to the Marines over college being the natural protector he was.

After Barry served 3 yrs, 10mo, 26 days in the United States Marine Corps, he moved to Denver, CO in 1974. It was in Denver that he met the love of his life Lynette Alexander. They were married on June 7, 1975 and went on to welcome 2 kids Tyree and Jamee.

To define Barry, we would say that not only was he a husband, father, brother, brother in-law, son in-law, uncle, grandfather, and a friend, he was a leader, a quiet and humble servant of God. A provider and protector, a true family man that put the needs of others before himself. Always making family his number one priority. A man of incredible strength it was belief and love for God that translated in his everyday life waking up every morning to read the Word to start his day. It was his spirituality that made him the man he was. If you ask him, he would say it is because of family that made him the man he was. The love and humility that displayed with everyone he touched will last for generations to come. Forever grateful that God saw fit to share one of his soldiers with us. He will always be in our hearts and forever remembered as our very own Superman.

Barry is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sandra, sister Priscilla, and brother Leon. Those left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Lynette, son Tyree (Stacey), daughter Jamee, grandkids Jayla, Jasmyne, Bryant, and Baylen and a host of family and friends.

To be absent rather from the body, is to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8
