Barton "Bart" Bayne Nelson

Barton B. Nelson, 81, of Greeley, CO passed away December 18, 2018 at Kenton Manor Nursing Home. He was born August 30, 1937 in Dalton, NE to Robert P. and Alby (Kubes) Nelson. He grew up on a farm in the Bridgeport, NE area. Bart attended country schools and graduated from Bridgeport High School. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. On January 12, 1985 he married Arlene Ann Reider in Glenrock, WY. Bart was employed as a bookkeeper before working for Kansas-Nebraska Gas and then Bear Creek Uranium Mine. He managed a propane company for 3 years in Dubois, WY and then worked for Amerigas in Casper, WY. He enjoyed maintaining acreage properties and puttering in the barn. He was always helping the family with projects. Bart and Arlene wintered in Quartzite and Yuma, AZ for fifteen years. He is survived by his wife Arlene of Greeley; daughter, Elizabeth "Beth” (Aaron) Elliott of North Bend, OR; son, Byron Nelson of Casper, WY; stepdaughter, Cheryl Bunch (Rod Wadas) of Johnstown, CO; brothers, Jerry (Linda) Nelson and Ward (Barb) Nelson; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Roger, Coly, and Don Nelson. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 27 and 11 a.m. to 12’ noon Friday, December 28 followed by Life Celebration Service at 12’ Noon, all at Adamson. Interment will be in the Johnstown Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to "St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital” in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80364.
