Beatrice Noehren Smith

Smith, Beatrice Noehren, 90, of Regency Oaks in Clearwater passed away quietly on March 14. Her bright smile, and generous nature will be missed by all. Betty was a resident of Westport, CT for over 50 years and in 2009 moved to Clearwater, FL. A graduate of Swarthmore College, she received her MA in social work from the University of Buffalo. Betty was a supportive wife, mother, and community social worker, working for various community organizations including Fairfield Child Guidance Center, the Norwalk Hospital, the Town of Westport Social Services, along with volunteering for the Red Cross, Mercy Learning Center, and mentoring in the Westport Schools. She served as president of PEO and was an active member of her Church. In 2010 Betty celebrated a joyous 90th birthday surrounded by family. Betty enjoyed gardening, listening to the opera, reading, and singing. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Warren B. Smith. She is survived by her son David of Clearwater, FL, and his wife Maggie, their sons Chris, TJ, and Matt; her son Warren, his wife Joy; her daughter Alison and husband Ralph Schwarz and their two sons, Zach and Cody; her sister-in-law Ruth Creech, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Betty will be missed by her family and friends whom she loved and who loved her very much. A memorial service will be held in Westport, CT in June. Anderson McQueen Funeral Homes.
