Becky Jean Brown, 57, of Portland, died peacefully at home on July 17, 2011 with her family by her side. Becky’s courageous battle with cancer ended far too soon and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Becky was born June 19, 1954 in Portland, Oregon to Dorothy Jean and Colin Wright Ackerson. She was an exceptional mother of three children and a loving wife to her husband of 37 years. Becky taught piano lessons after graduating from Marylhurst College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. She was an avid lover of music, adored her students, and cherished her piano teacher friends. Becky is survived by her husband, Stuart Brown; son & daughter-in-law, Cameron and Noel Brown; daughter, Lauren Brown; son, Peter Brown; sister, ErrolLynne & William Marsh; brother, Colin & Judith Ackerson; brother, Jeffrey & Darlene Ackerson; brother, Mark & Rita Ackerson; sister, Rollee and Michael Jones; sister-in-law, Denise Merrifield; in-laws, Melinda Brown and Wayne Kindsvogel; in-laws, Marley and Kathleen Brown; and beloved friend, Sara Lindgren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Becky is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Doris Ackerson; and brother, David Merrifield. The family suggests tribute gifts be made to the Oregon Food Bank. A memorial gathering will be planned. Arrangements by Autumn Funerals, Cremation & Burial, Tigard, Oregon

I was honored to have known Becky and Stuart for the 12 years that I worked at their local Starbucks. I will never forget her own personal cup that was always waiting there for her to arrive for a fresh bactch of coffee. What love she had for life and the world. She will be greatly missed by all that were touched by her.

Aunt Becky will be remembered and loved for among other things as being the younger 'hip' aunt who gave me and my siblings LPs as gifts long before she started teaching music to others. She was loved and cared for remarkably by her immediate family - anyone who witnessed the love and care that was given by her children Cameron (and wife Noel), Lauren and Peter and her husband Stuart was fortunate to witness true love, remarkable strength and devotion. To say she will be missed is both very true and very much an understatement. Our deepest regrets love and prayers go to her immediate family.
