Benjamin Curtis Baase
July 1st, 1997 - September 19th, 2023
Benjamin Curtis Baase, born July 1st, 1997, passed away unexpectedly on September 19th, 2023, at 26 years of age. Benjamin was a passionate Dungeons and Dragons player and dedicated Dungeon Master. He ran a lasting campaign with his close friends every weekend for years. He found much joy in crafting numerous and vivid storylines and artworks for he and his friends to enjoy. Throughout high school and after, Benjamin was an astounding choir singer. In addition to his creativity and artfulness, he was always interested in working with his hands. He would jump at the opportunity to help those around him with simple chores, home repair, or woodworking projects. Benjamin was a record setting boy scout having earned the most merit badges in Boy Scouts of America Troop #269. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2012 by building a shelter for horses at a local equine therapy farm. He had a great love for animals, especially his dogs Bear, Petra, Xena, and Kodi. Benjamin received his associates degree from Bluegrass Community and Technical College and was working on his Bachelor of Science from the University of Kentucky. He loved learning and sharing his knowledge with others. Benjamin is survived by his mother, JoEllen Thompson; his father and stepmother, Michael and Dawn Baase; his brother and sister, Elias and Mollie Baase; and grandmother, Phyllis Thompson. Benjamin is preceded in death by his grandfather, Curtis (Gramps) Thompson, Benjamin’s namesake, and his great aunt, Grace Beatty. Benjamin is a beloved son and brother who was kind, larger-than life, and a creative soul and will be so deeply missed by everyone who knew him. No memorial services are planned at this time. *** In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Autism Society-the Bluegrass or the Autism Speaks Foundation in Benjamins honor. ***
