Bernard "Dick" Richard Behrens
June 6th, 1924 - November 2nd, 2014
B. Richard "Dick" Behrens, D.C. was delivered from earthly life to eternal glory at Avalon Square in Waukesha on Sunday, November 2nd, 2014, at the age of 90. Dick was born on June 6th, 1924 to Bernard and Estelle (nee Belick) Behrens in East Troy, Wisconsin. Dick was a kind and compassionate man and will be dearly missed by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis (nee Nitardy) and his children Dr. Brent (Kathi) Behrens of Upper Arlington, Ohio; Dr. Scott (Ester)Behrens of Neenah and Ann Behrens of Waukesha. He was the cherished grandfather of Emily Davies of Bexley, Ohio; Peter Behrens of Columbus, Ohio; Dr. Jake Behrens of Fitchburg and Samantha Behrens of Neenah. He was the beloved great grandfather of John, Anthony and James Davies of Bexley, Ohio. Dick is further survived by his sister Elizabeth "Betty" Manley of East Troy and her family and by many wonderful and caring friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Thomas Manley. Dick attended East Troy High School, Marquette University and Lincoln School of Chiropractic in Indianapolis. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Dick joined his father in practice at the Behrens Spa on Broadway in Waukesha after his graduation from Lincoln School of Chiropractic and at the Behrens Chiropractic Clinic on Moreland Boulevard in Waukesha, after the Spa was sold in 1953. "Doc" Behrens did not retire until age 75, since he thoroughly enjoyed his patients. Family and friends meant so much to Dick. He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, sailing, flying, photography and music. He had very fond memories of the time he spent at Lake Beulah, Lake Katherine and Door County with family and friends. His love of travel took him to all 50 states and 15 foreign countries and on numerous cruises and Elder Hostels. He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Rotary Club and the Golden K Kiwanis. Visitation for Dick will be on held on Saturday, November 15th, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 700 Beechwood Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186 from 2:00 PM until the time of the 3:00 PM memorial service. The Rev. Jason Hacker will be officiating. Memorial gifts to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (see address above) may be considered as an expression of sympathy. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Douglas Brown, ProHealth Palliative Care and the staff at Avalon Square for the excellent care they provided to Dick.
