Bernard A. Cohen (Bernie) of Lake Wylie, SC since 2008 (formerly of Gaithersburg, MD) died suddenly on January 24, 2015 at PruittHealth Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rock Hill, SC. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Cooper & Colby Morse. Bernie enlisted in the Navy in 1961 where he served for 6 years. Following his honorable discharge in 1967, he attended the University of Maryland where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Industrial Education. Bernie worked in the government information technology sector as a sales and marketing representative for over 35 years. His passion for his work was always apparent. He took pride in all that he did, and worked even harder when the results were not as he anticipated. This strong work ethic transferred into all that he did. Whether it was participating in various boards such as the homeowners association and local tennis and swim club in Gaithersburg, MD(Westleigh), or simply working on the home projects, he put in 100% into everything he did. Bernie took tremendous pride in accomplishments his wife, daughter, and son experienced over the years. Their achievements never went unnoticed when he was around. He made sure others were aware of how proud he was. Bernie was a sports enthusiast. From watching boxing, golf and his beloved Washington Redskins, to playing tennis regularly with his son, Bryan and participating in various tennis socials, he was always active in the world of sports. Bernie made it a point to show interest in the lives and accomplishments of everyone he met. This quality was the foundation of who he was and how he approached life. It was never about him… it was about what he could do for others. A memorial service for Bernie will be held on Tuesday, January 27th at 11:00am.
