Bernard "Bernie" J. Heying, of Waukesha, died on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 66 years. Bernie was born on September 18, 1947 the son of Bernard C. and Helen (Waul) Heying in Hazel Green, WI. He proudly served and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. Bernie graduated from St. Norbert College in De Pere. He worked as an accountant for a variety accounting firms throughout his career. In his retirement, he enjoyed helping his son, Dan, with his racing business. More than anything, Bernie, loved his family. Bernie will be sadly missed by his wife, Lu Ann (Nelson) whom he married on July 22, 1978; his children, Daniel Heying of Waukesha, Jerry (Jennifer) Cook of Appleton and Shaun (Bill) Tofson of Wisconsin Dells; his five grandchildren, Zach, Hunter, Aubree, Brennen and Paige; and his brother, David (Joan) Heying of Beaver Dam. Bernie is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, LaVonne Spillane. The visitation for Bernie will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 11:30 a.m. until the 1:30 p.m. memorial service at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha.
