Bernard S. Wood, age 82, of Alexandria VA went to be with the Lord on May 24, 2014. Born in Washington, DC on August 21, 1931 to Eldridge and Edna Wood, Bernard spent his entire life in the DC metro area, serving in the US Navy and working in the transportation industry. Mr. Wood will be reunited with his parents and grandchild, Courtney Hamilton, in addition to other relatives. Bernard is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Jean Wood, his sons, Derrick and David, his daughter, Barbara Hamilton; daughter-in-law, Maria Wood; and son-in-law, Rick Hamilton. Mr. Wood has eight grandchildren: Stephanie Mack, Justin, David Jr, Patricia, Melanie, Joshua, Nicolette, and Ricki-Marie. He has one great-grandson, Jacob Mack. “Woody” played hard, worked hard, and always had a story to tell. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Graveside services and interment will be held at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA on Saturday, May 31 at 2pm.
