Bernice C. Hausman

Bernice C. Hausman, 85, of Charles Lane, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Albany Medical Center with her loving family at her bed side. Born October 22, 1929 in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Goldie Litchfield Czech. She was a lifelong Amsterdam Resident and attended local schools. Bernice was employed at Bigelow- Sanford Carpet Mills in Amsterdam and later she worked for Coleco Industries in Amsterdam until retiring in 1979. She was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Bernice enjoyed Polka dancing, dancing at Pine Lake, Bingo, camping, and going out for a ride. She was a loving great great grandmother. On May 9, 1965 she married Francis Hausman who passed away April 19, 2000. She was also predeceased by her sister Lucille Savoie and brother-in-law Charles Savoie. Survivors include four sons, Michael Quill (Marie) of Amsterdam, Francis Hausman, Jr. (Kitty) of Hudson, Florida, Stephen Quill, Sr. (Hilda) of Broadalbin and James Quill (Patty) of Amsterdam; two daughters, Claudia Robinson (Ronald) of Johnstown and Amy Quill (Brian Sleight) of Galway; a brother, Joseph Czech (Isabel) of Amsterdam; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis officiating. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 11 to 1 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Stanislaus Church, 50 Cornell Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
