June 14th, 1931 - September 2nd, 2020
Bert E. Warner, age 89, of Mayfield, passed away Wednesday morning, September 2, 2020 at his home with his family at his side. He was born June 14, 1931 in the Town of Mayfield, the son of the late Ernest and Irene Richardson Warner. He was a graduate of Mayfield High School and later enlisted in the US Army where he served two consecutive terms in the Korean War from 1949 until 1954. He enjoyed woodworking, building, tree planting and gardening. He was always seen out riding his lawnmower and will be remembered for sitting on the front porch waving to all the neighbors. He worked at Lee Dying Co. as a supervisor for many years and retired from the Atomic Gas Station. Bert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy M. Scott Warner; seven children, Mark and spouse Kristin Warner, Bobby and spouse Mary-Beth Warner, Greg and spouse Susan Warner, Vicki and spouse Dave (Pre-Deceased) Young, Kimberly Warner, Stacey and spouse James King, Kelly and spouse Jeff Jung; a sister, Sandy Lair; a brother, J.B. and spouse Susie VanNostrand; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews He was predeceased by a son, Ernest Warner; two sisters, Martha Jean Emerick and Betty Coloney; and a brother, Kurt VanNostrand. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6pm Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Facial covering and social distancing will be required. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will take place 11:00 am Wednesday at Mayfield Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Facial covering and social distancing will be required. A Celebration of Bert's Life will follow the Graveside Service at 119 Dennie Road (Greg and Susan's home). Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
