Bertha M Conley
August 16th, 1926 - June 27th, 2015
Bertha Bennett Conley Bertha Conley, 88 of Bradenton passed away on June 27th in Blake Hospital. She was born August 16th, 1926 in Portsmouth, Ohio to her late parents Roscoe and Myrtle Bennett. She moved to Bradenton 49 years ago with her family and is preceded in death by her late husband of 52 years Iley Conley, brother Art Bennett, half brothers Lewis and Gordon Bennett and half sister Lois Bennett. She is survived by her two sons and their wives Roger (Terri) Conley of Tampa and Jeff (Susan) Conley of Bradenton and six grandchildren, Evan and Whitney Conley of Tampa, Ashley Conley of Arlington, VA, Alan and Chris Conley of Bradenton and Courtney Conley Dutton (Tyler) of Germantown, TN along with brother Gene Bennett of Wheelersburg, Oh, and many nieces and nephews. Over her many years in Manatee County, she was very involved with her family, church, community and Young Life. Starting with her sons, whatever they were involved with she did including cub scouts, PTA, Little League and high school sports. She continued her involvement with her grandchildren attending every sporting event home and away, dance recitals or school events. She was also a grandma to both the Manatee High School baseball and tennis teams. This continued as her grandchildren went to college as she traveled to see Evan and Alan play baseball and watch Chris play football on TV. She became an Ole Miss Grandma as her two boys and 5 grandchildren attended school there. She also was deeply involved with her church, serving as a volunteer office worker, holy duster, was active in the Joy Circle and Coterie and even played church league softball in her younger days. When her grandchildren got involved with Young Life, she found her real passion with supporting kids and that continued until her passing. She and her husband Iley also loved RV’s and deeply enjoyed their many adventures and the close lifetime friends they made over the years. They were founding members and served as President and every elected office of the Revconeers of the Family Motor Coach Association. A memorial service will be held Wednesday July 1st, 2 PM at Trinity Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Nelson officiating. Private burial will be at Fogartyville Cemetery in Bradenton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Young Life of Manatee County, P.O. Box 14876, Bradenton, Fl. 34280
