June 15th, 1930 - January 25th, 2014
Bertha M. Green, 83, passed away Saturday evening peacefully at St. Mary's Healthcare. Born in Amsterdam on June 15, 1930, the daughter of the late William and Florence Decker Struensee she lived here her entire life. Bertha was a 1948 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She worked as a sewing machine operator for over twenty five years at Amsterdam Glove until she retired. Bertha loved to travel especially the casinos, tending her flower gardens, and feeding the birds that flocked to her gardens. Her happiest times were spent with her family at her daughter's summer home at the Sacandaga Lake. On June 2, 1950 she was united in marriage to William D. Green. He predeceased her on June 5, 2003. A sister, Marion Hammond also predeceased her. She leaves her daughter Karen A. Salmon James Brown of Hagaman; her son Donald Lee Susie Green of Torrence Ca., grandchildren; Alicia Brendon LaBuz, Scott Green and Jaclyn Tyler Williams, great grandson Oliver Williams; brother Ivan Helen Struensee of Smyrna, Ga., nieces, nephews, cousins and her dear feline companions Gigi and Dolly. At Bertha's request there will be no services or calling hours. Her care has been entrusted to the staff at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
