Bertha "Bert" Roberts
July 10th, 1942 - December 22nd, 2014
Bertha "Bert" Roberts passed peacefully on December 22, 2014 in St. Petersburg, Florida due to complications following Pneumonia. She was 72. Mrs. Roberts was born on July 10, 1942 in West Liberty, KY to her parents, William and Nancy Nickells. She married Kenneth Sawyer in 1958. The Sawyer's had three children and lived in Michigan for 12 years. In 1974, Bert moved to St. Louis, MO where she married John Brocks Jr. in 1975. The Brocks remained married for three years and had one child. Bert eventually relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1985 where she met and married Claude Roberts. While holding various jobs such as housekeeper and store clerk, she spent significant years helping and caring for the mentally challenged. She retired in 2008. Mrs. Roberts was a fun loving, free spirited individual that enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with family. She was known for being friendly and always having a smile. Bert never met a stranger. Mrs. Roberts is survived by her loving children, Tina Sawyer, Keith Sawyer, Thomas Sawyer and Susie (David) Menifee; her brothers, Larry, Billy; sisters Maxine, Francis, Dolly, Gene, Patty, Peggie, Linda, Mary Ellen, Laura, Lucile, Lorain, and Barb; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and loving host of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives, church family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude; her sisters; Gladys, Clorine, Shirley; and her brother Albertis. A memorial will take place on December 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of God Union Assembly. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mrs. Robert's life.
