Bertie Mae Potter
March 12th, 1936 - April 25th, 2016
Pelion - Bertie Mae Potter, 80 - The angels came to take Bertie Mae Potter home April 25, 2016. Bertie was born in Hemingway, SC, March 12, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Loris and Collin Thompson. Bertie was blessed with four siblings that she loved and adored, including the late Carol Terry, CG Thompson, Pansy Kelly and is survived by her sisters Jaquita Whitten, and Louannis Duska. She, along with the love of her life and soul mate George Potter shared a loving home in the little town of Pelion where she made many friends and loved to entertain. Bertie was the proud mother of her daughter Lois Bonita Thomas, stepson Vaughn Christian and stepdaughter Maria Potter. Bertie's zest for life, smile and laugh was contagious. She was full of surprises with her many talents and accomplishments, including owning and operating restaurant businesses with her sisters and sharing her talents as a hair dresser with many. She will always be remembered as a woman with a heart of gold that cherished the little things like early morning coffee with her love George, Thursday morning breakfast with her sisters and nieces, time spent with friends and family gathered around the karaoke microphone, and quiet nights with her puppy Dolly. Her humble beginning and successful business adventures served as an inspiration to everyone that knew her. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington.
