Bessie Loretta Casteel
September 26th, 1923 - November 29th, 2012
Bessie Loretta Casteel, daughter of George and Loretta Andonopolis, one of five children was born September 26, 1923 in Mason City, Iowa and passed away in Tacoma, Washington Nov. 29, 2012. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband Barney Casteel and infant daughter Sylvia. Survivors include her sister, Peggy Guertin of Sacramento CA and sons, Barney (Vicki) and Johnny Casteel; daughters, Sandra Knight, Linda Smith (Richard), Patricia Kazak, Deborrah Perdue and Loretta Todd. Bessie left fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Bessie was an avid Mariners fan never missing a game; she loved yard work, and decorating for Christmas. Bessie's Christmas lights drew onlookers driving from a far to see them. She loved playing the game of BUNCO® and loved all her BUNCO® buddies. "Ring the bell one last time Bessie." The coffee was always on and Bessie always had time to chat and visit with friends and family on her back porch. Bessie liked nothing better than a bargain, enjoying trips to Goodwill, Stinky's or Value Village. Bessie had a great sense of humor enjoying a good joke, and Bessie could dish it out as well as take it. She had a beautiful voice, and loved singing to her children especially when we were young. We will never forget her singing the lyric "May I sleep in your barn tonight mister?" She was always there for all of her children and would say " I love you more then you love me". We love you mother and you will be dearly missed. Bye mom.
