Bessie Marie Knoche, 94, of Pelion, widow of the late James Caleb Knoche, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021. She was born on October 4, 1926 in Columbia, SC to the late Walter Sightler and Bessie Ferrell Sightler. She attended Brookland-Cayce High School and worked for Shakespeare. She is survived by five children: Terry O'Neal (Phil), Collis Ronald Kelly, Dennis Michael Kelly (Joyce), Brenda Elaine Scarborough (Bill), and Karen Rebecca Johnson (Jerry); three step-children: James David Knoche (Carol Ann), Elizabeth Lee Casey (Randy), and Patricia Ann Godley. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Winona Rish and Lucille Oxner. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 11:00-11:45am, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Prisma Health Midlands Foundation (Camp Kemo) 1600 Marion Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or the Alzheimer's Association.
