Betty Jane Gose Benson, 87, of Warner Robins, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021. Born in Forsyth, GA, to Ira C. Gose and Bessie L. Gose, she was a graduate of Mary Persons High School and the oldest of six sisters. She married Charles W. Benson, also of Forsyth, and they traveled all over during his service in the U.S. Air Force. Following his retirement from the Air Force, the family moved to Warner Robins. She was a loving sister, wife, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years. MSgt (Ret.) Charles W. Benson; her son, the Rev. C. Mike Benson, and two sisters, Shirley G. Smith and Irma G. Carper. Mrs. Benson is survived by her grandsons, C. Daniel Benson of Athens and Stephen C. Benson of Fitzgerald; her daughter-in-law, Terri K. Benson of Fitzgerald; and three sisters, Rosalyn Gose of Mary Esther, Fl., Mable G. Griffin of Macon, and Catherine G. Seymour of Warner Robins, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Warner Robins from 6:00PM-8:00PM on Thursday, September 23, 2021. Masks will be required. Graveside services for both Mr. and Mrs. Benson will be held at Andersonville National Cemetery on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 2:00PM. The Reverend Derek McAleer will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Methodist Children’s Home, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
