Betty Jo Comstock
August 8th, 1927 - March 28th, 2022
Betty Jo Comstock, wife of Frederic G. Comstock (deceased), went to be with her Lord on March 28, 2022 at the age of 94. She passed surrounded by her family in Albuquerque, where she resided. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Curtis Julien Jr. (Ellyn), two of her sons, Roger (Cyndi), Gary Comstock, daughter-in-law Katherine Comstock, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, three nieces and two nephews, and many other extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband Frederic of 55 years, sons Curtis, Mark, and Robert Comstock, sister Lillian Jordan (Roy), brother William T. Julien (Linda), and brother-in-law Robert Comstock (Marjorie). Betty led a full life beginning in Belen, NM, on August 8, 1927. After she graduated from Albuquerque High in 1945, she obtained her nursing degree and joined the Cadet Nurse Corps. She was married to Frederic September 18, 1948 until he passed in 2003. In addition to being a nurse, raising her five sons, and being a devoted grandmother, Betty was a long-time member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed traveling the world, staying at Elephant Butte trailer, researching genealogy, and caring for all family members and friends, local and afar. She was the Precinct 37 Committeewoman, and a Den Mother. She continued her community service as a member of Beta Sigma Phi, the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Zia Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She served as the DAR New Mexico State Regent from 1983-1985, and Zia Chapter Regent from 2010-2011. Her service to DAR was important and influential enough that she was made an Honorary State Regent. A viewing will be held at Riverside Funeral Home (225 San Mateo Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108) on May 9, 2022 from 4:30 – 6:30 PM. Betty’s Celebration of Life will be at Immanuel Presbyterian Church (114 Carlisle Blvd, SE) on the morning of May 10, 2022 at 9:30 am viewing and 10:00 service. She will be interned at the Santa Fe National Cemetery following the service at 1:30 pm sharp. The Riverside Funeral Home can be reached at 505-225-3362 with any questions.
