Betty June Galbraith, a resident of Yuba City for 61 years, went to be with the Lord, December 28th, 2017. She was 89 years old and had been residing at Prairie House in La Pine, Oregon, the last 3 and 1/2 years. Betty was born to Frank Kennedy and Mildred (Owens) Kennedy in Rankin, Texas, on May 8th, 1928. She also lived in the cities of San Antone and Baytown, Texas, before moving to California in 1952. She was married to Ken Galbraith for 43 years. He pre-deceased her in 1996. Betty's faith in the Lord Jesus was central to her, and sustained her throughout life. She was an active member for years at Cooper Avenue Baptist Church, Evangelical Free Church and most recently, Crossroad Community Church, all in Yuba City. She was an active volunteer in the community. She taught Sunday School, served as a "Pink Lady" at Fremont Hospital and donated her talents as a costume designer for many ice skating shows at the Scott Ellis-Lake Ice Arena in Marysville, in the 1970's. She also taught reading to elementary school children at Bridge Street School, and more recently, volunteered at the Clothes Closet at Crossroads Community Church. In 1981, she went to work at Gone With the Wind Travel as a travel agent. She became a Certified Travel Consultant at the age of 60 and worked in travel until her retirement at the age of 77. Betty traveled six continents extensively from her mid 40's until her late 70's, fullfiling a childhood dream. Survivors include a son, Ronald Galbraith (Sonny) of Yuba City, a daughter Lynn Bunfill (Rick) of Woodland, and a daughter, April McDaniel (Rob) of La Pine, Oregon. Her grandchildren include; Holly Gallagher (Bill), Arika Medrano (Juan), Aaron Bunfill, Brandon Bunfill, Baxter Bunfill and Tatum McDaniel. Betty also had two great-granddaughters; Brooke Gallagher and Hope Gallagher. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 26th, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church, 445 B Street, Yuba City with Pastor Jim Clark, officiating. Ullrey's Memorial Chapel is handling funeral arrangements. A graveside service will follow immediately at Sutter Cemetery in Sutter. Betty will be loved, remembered and missed for her love of family, sense of humor and spunkiness.
