July 16, 1936 - January 17, 2016 Betty Lue Goodman (Beard), was born the middle child of Virgil and Florence Beard in Leadville Colorado. A lifelong resident of Yuba Sutter, she attended Yuba College and Yuba City High School where she was a majorette, an excellent diver and enjoyed French Club and the Junior Women's Club. In 1956, she married the love of her life James Goodman and together they raised their five children. Her vibrant whistling, which won her awards in her youth carried on throughout her life and her lovely recognizable songs and laughter could be heard loudly from blocks away or from across a store. In her adulthood, she was an accomplished bowler, a generous gift-giver (often sewing her own beautiful blankets for friends and strangers), clever homemaker, avid shopper and attentive gardener. Bette had a very wide variety of interest ranging from reading and joke telling to church and community service. Notably, she served on the Marysville Cemetery Commission where she hosted special events and cemetery cleanups as well as regular upkeep. She served on the League of Women's Voters, PTA and MHS Boosters and brought home cooked meals to those in need.Bette had a home cure for any ailment and was notorious for rubbing the feet of her children and grandchildren to prevent the cold, Grandma Bette, as she was fondly referred to, was a "Jack of all Trades" and a socialite who loved sharing her talents, gifts, opinions, advice and love with everyone she came in contact with. Bette never met a stranger, she was a friend to all. Bette received her angel wings on January 17, 2016 at the Fountains in Yuba City where she received much loving care from her family and the staff. She is survived by her husband Jim Goodman, children: Cherie Morse, Randy Goodman (Danielle), Monte Goodman, Kim Elliott (Bill) and Heidi Loyd; sisters Barbara Gildersleeve (Bob), and Dottie Lord (Norm); nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.Her Celebration of Life Ceremony will take place on the 31" of January 2016 at the Moose Lodge at 2pm. A potluck will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to FRHG Hospice or charity of your choice .
