My heart goes out to Leonard's family. I'm so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful man. He loved his family, worked hard to provide and funny. I will always remember you. With love, always, Melissa.

Deepest condolences to Nancy, and the other member's of John's family. John was my across the street neighbor. I always thought of him as the unofficial "block captain",he was always very aware of goings on in the neighborhood, and I appreciated his advice, and his promptness in notifying me when anything seemed to be amiss or untoward going on on the block. He will be missed.

Dear John Mark, going back some 40 plus years you played an album, On The Threshold Of A Dream, and got me to hear the lyrics. I regret I never told you the positive impact that made on my life to this day. You inspired me to think which has got to be the greatest gift anyone can give. I can only imagine how many other lives you touched in your time here. Thank you is inadequate. Rest in blessed peace.

Nan, I am so sorry John is no longer here. John will always be close to my heart - I can hear his laugh, feel ease and welcome from his generosity, join in his excitement of his passionate interests and pursuits, and know something about this world more widely from his heart rendered memories of living in this world. We three have shared some memories together that will last a lifetime. John was insanely intelligent but his gift as a PMHN was in making people feel safe and good in his professional care. I was lucky to know John and will deeply miss him. He deserves to rest in peace but I have a feeling John has found more pots of gold to enjoy.

Dear Nan,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I met 'Jaffey' in my brother Phil's book "The Wood of My Window". What a remarkable man you married. Through my brother's admiration and the recounting of John's experiences in Vietnam, I feel i had a brief look into the character of your dear husband. He has earned his rest, although I imagine he is not resting but fulfilling his new eternal purposes.

John we want you to know that you will be truly missed and I will miss my hugs from yout ruely one of God's true angels not only to Nancy but to all who had the opportunity to meet you or come in contact with you, you were a friend and helper to all who met you. You are a true hero John Maurman,we will not be sad but will rejoice in your passing because we know and can testify you are with Our Heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and you are not in any more pain so we will rejoice John and try to take care of your dear sweet wife Nancy, so untill we meet again John our love to you unroll we meet again on the other side of the veil our true friend and Comrad.from the Ronalds

It has been along time since we have seen you. But Carl, Allen and I always told stories. They loved their time with you in Oregon. My condolences to Nancy- I hope you have lots of support and love to help you through this time. Love your Alaskan niece

my dear buddy ,so many nice memories come flooding in,so many times we laughed ,i will never forget the time you baby sat my son for me and i came back and you had him all in army gear ready for battle..what a good baby sitter,and all the times you supported me when i had lost a loved one...thank you john for being my friend

Nancy, I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss him too. I think that I am not alone in my sadness. Decorated for Heroism with the Bronze Star Medal; he was a brave man in all aspects of his life. He gave everyone around him joyful memories and dry humor and sharp wit filled us with laughter. His humility in sharing his experiences in Vietnam caused me to see "Japhy," maybe for the first time. While there, we couldn't allow ourselves to get to close to each-other. In two separate attacks, they buried him alive twice, Both of those bunkers were destroyed around him; but he survived. When I interviewed him he was hesitant to even talk about it. He didn't think I should even write about it. He was courageous to the end. Now, 
after his years of suffering, I am glad it is over for him, I am glad he is at rest in his Father's arm. I will miss him. Rest in peace my friend.

A few years and miles have kept these cousins apart, but my heart goes out to his family. I know Aunt Katie and Uncle Fred have him in their loving arms.
