Betty "Sandra" Sandra Hays
March 6th, 1935 - September 17th, 2024
Betty Sandra Hays, 89, of Loveland and formerly of Johnstown, passed away on September 17, 2024 at Medical Center of the Rockies. She was born March 6, 1935 in Greeley to Samuel Jacob and Sylvia Nadine (Corbin) Busch and was raised in Eaton. She was a fifth generation Coloradan and proud of her family’s Greeley Union Colony heritage, dating back to 1870.
Sandra graduated from Galeton High School and attended two years of college. She married Darrel Davis on June 19, 1955 and had two children; Jeffrey and Denise. They lived in Eaton and Johnstown.
She married Chester “Chet” Hays on January 23, 1974 and added three stepchildren to her family; Candi (Paul) Winckel, Richard (Sally) Hays of Johnstown and Debbi (William) Eastwood of Greeley and their families.
While living in Johnstown, Sandra was active in many clubs and organizations, including the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Jeff, her son-in-law, Lou Golitko of Estes Park, her stepchildren, 13 grandchildren, including Emily (Sean) Jurgens, Colin Golitko, Nicole, Nixon and Nash Davis, numerous great-grandchildren, her siblings; Robert Busch, David (Kathy) Busch and Sylvia Callow.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Davis in 1993 and husband, Chet in 2006.
Sandra’s Life Celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 202 at the Johnstown United Methodist Church with a dessert reception to follow. Private inurnment at the Johnstown Cemetery.
