ALPINE — A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at Bellfountain Community Church for Betty Jean Howell of Alpine, who died Aug. 24 at age 74. The family chose not to list the cause of death.She was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Lone Wolf, Okla., to Willie and Bertie Blair Branam. She married James Howell on Nov. 22, 1952, in Whittier, Calif. He died Jan. 2, 2004.She was a homemaker.Survivors include four sons, James, Danny and Rodney, all of Monroe, and Jerry of Crow; a daughter, Sandra Fletcher of Monroe; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Two grandchildren, Cody and Joey Howell, died previously.Arrangements by Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City. Remembrances to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.
