Betty Allen McKnight, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. Betty was born on January 30, 1935 in Charlotte to Alberta Mills Gregory and Robert L Gregory. She was raised by Alberta Mills Gregory Allen and her adoptive father Gilbert W Allen. She grew up in Charlotte and graduated from Central High School in 1953 and then attended Kings College. Betty married Everett J McKnight Jr in December 1954 and they celebrated 51 years before he passed in 2005. She retired from Aetna Life and Casualty Insurance after 30 years. Betty loved to cross stitch, work puzzles and bake everyone Christmas goodies. Betty will be missed by family and friends and will be remembered as a caring giving person who always liked helping others. She is survived by her son and daughter, Robert McKnight and Pam McKnight. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 1:30 pm at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 1200 East Blvd (corner of Dilworth Rd East and East Blvd) with the Reverend Jolin Wilks McElroy officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Betty McKnight Memorial at First Christian Church.
