BETTY ANNE SCHWARZ Betty Anne Schwarz passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 with her family and friends by her side. Betty was born April 22, 1934 in Fresno, California to Maudene and Walter Johnson. Betty spent her early childhood in California losing her father to cancer in 1939. Betty's mother remarried George Kelley in 1940: George and Maudene ( Garby and Papo) were Betty's loving parents until the death of George in 1999 and Maudene in 2001. Betty attended schools in Seattle, Washington graduating from Lincoln High School in 1952. Betty and her loving husband Doug Schwarz began their 63 year love affair in Betty's senior year of High School. Both Betty and Doug attended the University of Washington in 1952 and became married on August 28, 1954. Betty and Doug brought four loving and talented children into their family; John D. Jr., William Paul, Dean Thomas, and Kathy Anne. Betty had a real zest for life and everyone that knew her loved her kind and thoughtful ways. She enjoyed pets of all types with special love for cats and dogs being very partial to Golden Retrievers. Living near Butte Creek for forty two years, Betty enjoyed many trips to the nearby swimming holes with her happy and friendly dogs. She also enjoyed traveling and seeing friends and relatives with many trips to Washington and Oregon and nine trips to European countries to learn about their cultures, visit relatives, enjoy the architectural wonders, delight in the music festivals, and bring back special thimbles and memorable glass souvenirs. Betty was kind, thoughtful, and a loving woman who brightened many lives. She will be missed but her four children, eleven grandchildren and her husband Doug will continue her legacy. She is survived by her husband Doug of 60 years and their children: John D. Schwarz Jr. of Chico, William Paul Schwarz of Coalinga, Dean Thomas Schwarz of Walla Walla, WA., and Kathy Schwarz Stone of Paradise, CA. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Kelley Rodolff of Walnut Creek, Blake Schwarz of Walla Walla, Heidi Schwarz of San Franciso, Joseph Schwarz and Jordan Schwarz of Chico, Nicole Stone, Natalie Stone and Blaine Stone of Paradise, Macy Schwarz of Chico, and Breanna Schwarz and Allison Schwarz of Coalinga, CA. Honoring Betty's wishes no funeral services are planned. A Celebration of Life will be held with her extended family and her loving friends. Her physical body was faced with medical challenges over a period of more than twenty years, she fought valiantly to overcome each, and finally her spirit was ascended to Heaven and will live on forever with everyone who knew her. She is in a much better place. Any donations may be made to the Butte County Humane Society in memory of Betty's life long love of dogs and cats. Betty's life was devoted to her family and the needs of others as was Evident in the relationships with family and friends. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the excellent care received at Enloe Hospital with special thanks to Doctors Mazj, Brown, Courtney And Ward, as well as, their professional staffs.
