Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
Betty Lucille Suitter
September 29th, 1929 - January 8th, 2022
Betty L. Suitter died peacefully on January 8, 2022. She was 92 years old. She was born Betty Lucille Pegram in Nampa, Idaho to Glenn and Dottie (McFerrin) Pegram. When Betty was just 6 years old, her mother passed away and Betty lived briefly with her Grandma Madie in Bates, Oregon, but Betty’s home became her Aunt Elsie (McFerrin) Steel’s in Caldwell. During Betty’s junior year of high school, she and her best friend started working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. Betty met and married Watie Combs shortly before her high school graduation and they welcomed their daughter, Sandra Kay Combs (Applegarth) in November 1949. A lifetime later, in 1977, Betty married Artell Suitter, Jr. Betty and Art moved from Idaho Falls to Boise and they became thoroughbred horse breeders, racers and owners of many winning racehorses. They won top Idaho Horse Breeder of the Year in 2010. Even after retirement from the telephone company, and while running a successful horse breeding business, Betty continued to work until her second retirement at age 85! Her last work family at Kendall Ford named her Employee of the Year. She will be very missed by her family and friends. A special thank you to the staff at her assisted living facility for taking such great care of our Grandma Betty. Please consider donating to the charity of your choice in Betty’s name as she was a true philanthropist.
