Tipton, Betty Jane (Lacher), 91, of Pinellas Park, passed away January 14, 2019. Betty was a lifetime resident of St. Petersburg. She was well known for her giving, caring and loving spirit. Betty took in over 50 plus babies from the Children's Home Society of Florida straight from the hospital and nurtured them until they could be placed in their permanent homes for adoption. Betty (MOM) was a very strong willed, hardworking and loving individual. She was the salt of the earth. The glue that held the family together. She loved dancing and country music. She always offered a helping hand to anyone. She loved children and animals, and they were equally delighted with her. Betty had that caring spirit that drew people to her. She has been honored many, many times for her long years of service to her community. Betty's name is forever enscripted in the "Golden Book of Pages" in St. Petersburg for her thousands upon thousands of hours of volunteer service at Northside Hospital. She volunteered there daily for more than 26 years. Betty is predeceased by her devoted husband, Dallas Tipton; her loving brother, Donald F. Lacher; and sister-in-law, Mamie Lacher. She is survived by daughters, Audrey Joyce Growe, Ida Park and Alice Tipton Cleveland along with TPR (ret) James F. Cleveland; grandchildren, Rodney “Sonny” Dallas Growe, his partner Elizabeth Harrington, Westley Growe, his wife, Fabiola Growe, Bryan Cleveland of Montana and his wife, Michelle Cleveland, David Cleveland, and his wife Jennifer Krispin Cleveland, Jaime Park, Lindsey Park, and Kali Emery Park; great grandchildren, Nathaniel “Nate” Cleveland, Ashton Cleveland, Izabelle Growe, Avery Growe, Dieago Growe and Alexandria Growe, Ava and Clayton Cleveland and Tristan Carasella Cleveland. Betty is also survived by her loving pets, Cloe and Precious and her devoted, loving caregivers, Ann Dennett and Carol Pryor. A visitation will be held 7-9pm Friday, January 18, 2019, with a 10am funeral service to follow next day, Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr MLK St N, St Petersburg, FL 33704. Betty will be laid to rest in the North Mausoleum of Memorial Park Cemetery. Immediately following services, guests are invited to celebrate in a time of joyful remembrance at Club House 3, 10050 Mainlands Blvd N, Pinellas Park, FL 33782.
