WHITE, Haithcock Betty, a resident of Tampa, FL went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 2, 2016. She was 90 years old. Born May 22, 1926 in Mt. Gilead, NC, to Oscar Haywood and Annie Lomax Haithcock, she was preceded in death by her eights siblings; an infant daughter, Lillian Marie Burroughs; and her husband, Clarence Milton White, Jr. She is survived by her children, Carol (William) Skinner, James (Olga) Burroughs, Betty (William) Lloyd; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and a multitude of cherished friends. She served in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps during WWII as a nurse cadet, followed by an adult career as a pediatric nurse. She was recognized numerous times by churches, clubs and community organizations for her contributions as a volunteer, including St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where they planted a dedicated a “Betty White” tree in recognition of her contributions to the church. She cherished the 10 years she spent as a volunteer at University Community Hospital—Carrollwood in the gift shop. She will long be remembered for her love for plants, arts and crafts, “old” church hymns, her deep rooted faith in God, and as a loving, caring person who was always there to offer a helping hand to others. A “Celebration of Life” memorial service will be held at Keystone Community Church on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 3 p.m. A private graveside interment will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Keystone Community Church, “Building Fund,” 21020 SR 54, Land O’ Lakes, FL 33558 or the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, “Memory Garden,” 302 Carey St., Plant City, FL 33563.
