Betty Yohe

Yohe, Betty J., 77, of Tampa, joined Leon Harold "Hal" Yohe, her husband of 56 years, in eternal rest on Thursday, October 9, 2014. Betty was born in Lake Wales, Florida, on October 17, 1936, daughter of James and Jennie Brest. She lived most of her life in Tampa, graduating Hillsborough High School in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart Hal Yohe on June 28, 1958 at the First Christian Church in a candlelight ceremony. Betty earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Tampa College, and worked at the Tampa Shipyard alongside her father. Later in life, her career focused on real estate, and she worked in real estate office administration and as an MLS Specialist for local brokers for over thirty five years, until she retired from Marie Powell Realty in 2008. She had many interests, including history, archeology, classic films, technology, cooking, design, forensic medicine, politics, gardening with Hal, cats, and helping others. She supported many charitable organizations including Salvation Army and Metropolitan Ministries. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, and cherished cats Loki, Patches, and Puddin. Betty is survived by two children, two grandchildren, a great-grandchild in utero, and two well-loved cats. Betty was a sweet and nurturing person who brought joy to the hearts of all who knew her. She was known especially for her amazing culinary talents, her beautiful speaking voice, and her wonderfully kind heart. As Betty never met a cat she didn't love, her family requests that donations be made in Betty's memory to the Humane Society of Tampa. A memorial service will be held at a date to be determined.
