Beverly P. Gardinier, 84, of Steadwell Avenue, passed away Thursday evening at St. Mary?s Hospital, with family at her side. Born in Amsterdam on Feb. 3, 1922, the only child of Lysander L. and Pearl B. Blood McHarg she was a 1939 graduate of Amsterdam High School. A lifelong resident , she began a long career in music over fifty-five years ago. Beverly taught several generations of young Amsterdamians piano, organ, accordion and guitar, at her home and for many years at the former Morrison & Putman Music Center. Her love of music carried over to her church, where she served as substitute organist and was a member of the choir at the former Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. A current member of the United Presbyterian Church, she was a member of the Mary Martha Circle. Her other activities included the National and Regional Auxiliary of the United Spanish American War Veterans where she served as past president for both divisions as well as department musician. She also served as a member of the Board Of Directors for the Oxford Veteran?s Home in Oxford, NY . An avid card player, she treasured the time spent with her family at Sunset Bay. On November 19, 1941, she was united in marriage to Harlow Gardinier. In addition to her beloved husband of nearly sixty five years, she leaves behind her close knit family; daughter Judith and her husband Henry Gieseler of Amsterdam Grandchildren, Harleen Laramie James Jr., Beverly Simek Bruce, Judi Stewart Michael and Michael Gieseler Blythe; great grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua and James Laramie III, Krista and Robert Holland, Mikayla Simek, Anthony, Alex and Brendan Stewart, Eric and Alexandra Gieseler. Services are Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Roland ?Mac? McDonald officiating. Spring interment is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church Street, Amsterdam 12010.
