Beverly A. Peeler, 80, of Fort Plain passed away peacefully on Friday, July 20, 2013 with her loving family and her wonderfully caring fiancé John Elwood of Starkville, NY by her side. She was born June 13, 1933 in Fleshing, NY, the daughter of the late T. Gordon and Evelyn Stuart Cook. Beverly graduated from Bay Side High School, Valedictorian of her Class of 1951. She also received a scholarship and attended Vasser College. She was employed by Union Carbide in NYC, the training staff of the head branch of Chase Manhattan, NYC and she was also employed by Courier Standard Enterprises and Lee Publications in Palatine Bridge. She was a member of the Fort Plain United Methodist Church and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of many Bible study groups where she was very active in prayer chains and had many lovely Christian Friends. She spent many happy hours in artistic pursuit and enjoyed restoring her Victorian Home. Her marriage to LeRoy G. Peeler took place on October 16, 1965 in St. Albans Chapel. They shared a union of 41 years until his passing in March of 2006. Her loving family includes her daughter Deborah D'Arcangelis Roc of Fort Plain, Step children, Larry Sue Peeler of Rochester and Barbara Charlie Kleinbach of VA; grandson, Michael and granddaughter Zoe, both of whom she loved and was extremely proud of. She is also survived by a brother, Gordon S. Cook and wife Carol of North Carolina and a Godson, Trevor Cook. Special thanks to her ever faithful daughter Debbie, the many friends made at Mountain Valley Hospice and her darling fiancé, also to her dearest friends Elsie Rocklin, Norma Bowley and Beth Skottke with many well wishes. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 10 AM at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street in Canajoharie. Rev. Alan Griffith will preside. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening 4pm until 7pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery.
