Bill was born November 16, 1930 at home in Yuba City, CA and peacefully passed away July 16, 2022 at his home in Marysville, CA. He was 91 years old. Bill lived most of his life in Marysville, CA. Bill was the 2nd youngest child born to John and Venna Landis. His older brothers were John, Richard, George and Jack. Beverly was his younger sister. John and Venna moved their three oldest children from Oklahoma to California during the Great Depression to provide a better life for their family. John and Venna insisted their children attend college to achieve a higher education and a better life. Bill graduated from University of Laverne in 1952 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He continued his post education with Education Administration classes at Chico State and Sacramento State. Bill met Lorraine Luan Lavering, the love of his life, at University of Laverne in 1950. They married in 1953. Bill and Lorraine were blessed with three children, Robert, Patricia and Edward. Bill was a devoted Father and Grandfather to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was very generous with his love, his time and his resources. As a Dad, he always participated in his children's activities and events, including coaching and cheering. He was always there for his family, willing to give the shirt off his back, always putting himself second. Bill was a highly accomplished educator. He served in the Yuba/Sutter area as a Teacher in K-12 for many years at Alicia Intermediate School, as Principal for 12 years at Foothill Intermediate School, Cedar Lane Elementary, Loma Rica Elementary and Browns Valley Elementary. Bill served as Interim Superintendent of Schools for Foothill, Loma Rica and Browns Valley Schools. For 8 years, during the Summers, Bill served as Director of Bear Valley YMCA Camp and for 5 years as Foreman for Del Monte Cannery. During the latter part of his education career, Bill and his wife Lorraine owned and operated Feather River Trophies in Yuba City. Bill retired from education in 1987 to operate the trophy business full time. He served as a substitute principal until age 65. Bill was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marysville for over 60 years. Bill and Lorraine traveled to many foreign countries, creating a lifetime of precious memories. Bill is preceded in death by his wife Lorraine Lavering Landis, son Robert Landis, daughter Patricia Landis, parents John and Venna Landis, brothers John Jr. Landis, Richard Landis, George Landis and Jack Landis, and his sister Beverly Landis.
