Bill C. Moran
May 4th, 1930 - August 3rd, 2024
Bill cherished his family above all things and always put them first. Through words and actions he instilled in all of their kids the value of hard work, a strong faith and caring for others.
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved dad, Bill Moran, who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on August 3, 2024, at the age of 94.
Bill was born on May 4, 1930 to Catherine and Charles Moran, and grew up in Ballard where he attended St. Alphonsus Catholic grade school, O’Dea High School (class of ‘48), and then joined the United States Navy where he served proudly for four years (1951-1955). He married the love of his life, Anne Angelini, in November 1954, just prior to leaving the Navy, and they raised their eight children together over their 46 years of marriage.
Bill is survived by his sister, Joan Lillie, his eight children, Mary Baehm, Glenn Moran, Robin Fenton, Sharon Westphalen (John), Tom Moran (Erin), Kellee Hoobler (Micah), Carol Peterson (Andy), Dianne Harris (David), his 18 grandchildren, Nikki Fowler (Chris), Taylor Baehm (Lauren), Dani Baehm (Marcus), Ryan Fenton (Alli), Patrick Westphalen, Lauren Shima (Hunter), Alyssa Moran, Chuck Moran, Derek Hoobler (Taylor), Allanah Greer (Josh), Rachel Gosslee (Jeff), Dylan Peterson (Courtney), Sean Peterson, Brian Peterson, Duncan Mattingly, Ainsley Mattingly, Logan Mattingly, Nolan Harris, and his great grandchildren Hudson Shima, Slate Gosslee, Blake Baehm and the five others on their way.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anne Moran, his brother Michael Moran, his sister Darlee Irish, his parents Catherine and Charles Moran, and his second wife Rose Mary Moran.
Bill cherished his family above all things and always put them first. Through words and actions he (and Anne) instilled in all of their kids the value of hard work, a strong faith and caring for others. He was a self-employed gardener who worked hard every day to provide for his family, yet never missed a sporting event of his kids. When Anne passed 24 years ago, Bill was the glue that held the family together.
Some of Bill’s most cherished memories are pulling his wagon along Alki Beach collecting firewood at age 4, altar serving at St. Alphonsus church from 1941-1945, raising and racing his homing pigeons, playing catcher for the O’Dea H.S. baseball team, serving in the U.S Navy where he traveled to Japan, Guam and Kwajalein, being stationed up at Whidbey Island with Anne, buying the cabin at Lake Roesiger and enjoying all the family/church group gatherings, watching all his kids’ sporting events, and of course his 50+ years of fishing up at Ross Lake Resort. He will be forever missed.
