Billie Lou Baxter

Billie Lou Baxter, 86, of Greeley, CO passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Meadowview of Greeley. She was born March 6, 1929 in Windsor, CO to Herschel and Icel (Gress) Brooks. Billie Lou grew up on a farm west of Windsor and attended grade school in Severance, CO. Her family later moved to a farm south of Ault, CO and she graduated from Ault High School. In 1945 Billie Lou married J. Earl Shepherd and had three children, John Nicholas, Suzanne, and Patrick. They moved to the west Greeley dairy farm on 35th Avenue in 1949, where she raised her family. Billie Lou was employed by Rotthaus Insurance Agency, and was a receptionist for Dr. Barber, Dr. Artist, and later for Jean Masterson’s Foot Clinic. She married Virgil Baxter in 1971. Billie Lou loved to sew and was active with the Greeley Sewing Guild, a member of the Highland Hills Golf Association and enjoyed bowling with the Elk’s Couples League. Billie Lou is survived by her husband, Virgil of Greeley; children, Sue (Robert) Good, Pat (Diane) Shepherd, and Pam Baxter; grandchildren, Denise Shepherd, Kim (Kody) Kimbrough, Mark Shepherd, Ashley Bredemier, Jay (Leslie) Good, Jon (Sandy) Good, and Matt Shepherd; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Louise Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Nick Shepherd. A celebration of Billie Lou’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634. Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
