Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
Birth: Death: Service Information:
Dorothy Edith Glover, 92, peacefully passed away September 3, 2013, with her family by her side. She was the last of five children born to Jim and Jennie (Nunn) McWilliams. Dorothy’s mother, Jennie, was an Oregon Trail pioneer of only six weeks old when they arrived in Thurston County. Dorothy was born on Christmas Eve. She grew up on the Westside of Olympia, attending Garfield Elementary, Washington Junior High, and Olympia High School. As a young child, she helped make peanut butter cookies after school for the Olympian Hotel where her mother was a baker. Her summers were spent at the Sunnybay Plantation near Boston Harbor. Dorothy married December 7, 1940 to a handsome, young barber named Philip Aasen, and together they had three children. Dorothy was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her husband and family. Dorothy’s husband, Phil, died due to a heart attack in 1960. A few years later, she married a mutual friend of theirs named Jack Glover. He was a carpenter and they had 33 happy years together. Dorothy was the guru of weddings. She made wedding dresses, bridesmaid and flower girl dresses, as well as many wedding cakes for both her family and friends. (She was a very special person to have around when you were getting married!) Her other talents were many, including all kinds of crafts, knitting, sewing quilting, baking, etc. Dorothy also belonged to the Carpenters Auxiliary for many years, including taking the offices of Treasurer, Secretary, and President. She attended many conventions near and far with her husband, Jack, by her side. She loved spending time with her family. Dorothy is survived by her three loving children, Ron (Pam) Aasen, Jerry (Donna) Aasen, and Karen (Tom) Monti; her seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren who all reside in the Olympia, Washington. Dorothy will be forever in our hearts. We love you Mom! Please leave your memories of Dorothy or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
