Bonnie Jo Herr

Bonnie Jo Herr (Balcom), 80, died on July 10, 2023 after a lengthy hospitalization. She was born in 1942 in Minneapolis, MN to Curt and Fran Balcom. Bonnie was raised in south Minneapolis and often reminisced about fun family memories with her brothers. All three Balcom kids were Washburn High School graduates. Bonnie married Roger in 1962 and held part time positions while raising their young family. After completing her undergraduate degree at U Wisconsin-River Falls she became a teacher in Stillwater, MN. Bonnie returned to university to complete her Masters Degree at the University of Minnesota and had a rewarding career as a Human Resources Executive at 3M. An early retirement opportunity allowed Bonnie to become a part time snowbird with Roger in Tucson, Arizona, eventually making their way back to live in Minneapolis. Bonnie drew strength and happiness from her deep connections with dear friends, her family near and far, and her volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity and the condo board. Bonnie was preceded in death by parents Curt and Fran, husband Roger, and son David. Bonnie leaves behind children Lisa and Mark (Lorena) and grandchildren Z (Joey), Finn (Holly), Olivia and Eliot, brothers David (Connie) and Tom (Barb), cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends galore. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Habitat for Humanity or the Plymouth Congregational Church Community Fund would be meaningful to Bonnie.
