Bonnie Louise Sanborn, age 94, a resident of Olympia, WA, was born on May 8, 1930 in Springfield, Missouri to William Ellemander and Birdie Birdus “Bea” (Duckworth) Turner. She died of natural causes on September 9, 2024 and has gone to be with the Lord.
Bonnie attended school in Turlock, CA. She married Elmer Sanborn on November 3, 1951. They had two daughters, Brenda and Patricia. The family moved to Yakima, WA in 1971 and eventually settled in Olympia.
Bonnie was a homemaker. She especially enjoyed entertaining friends and family on holidays and birthdays. She and Elmer often hosted informal get-togethers with friends to play competitive table games, sing hymns around the piano, and tell jokes or a funny life story. She loved to read, write cards and letters, visit with friends on the phone, camp in their travel trailer, and shop for a new piece of clothing or shoes.
Bonnie was a woman of faith who loved the Lord. She attended church regularly and read her Bible daily. After she was no longer able to attend church in person, she watched Sunday sermons on TV. With the help of her daughters she continued to send birthday cards and Christmas cards to her church family and friends.
Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Doug) Comsia and Patricia Sanborn, and her beloved granddaughter, Kristi Morefield. She was a much loved “grandmother” to Brian Colbo and Allison Lambert. She is also survived by: her sister Joyce Turner of Olympia, WA; her brother Bill (Jeanne) Turner of Bristol, RI; her brother Dale (Linda) Turner of Olympia, WA; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Elmer, who passed in 2021, and her beloved parents.
Bonnie had many, many friends as well as a family who treasured her. While she will be missed by those of us remaining, we know that those who predeceased her are rejoicing and welcoming her in Heaven.
A graveside service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington at
11:00 a.m. on October 1st, 2024.
Donations in memory of Bonnie may be made to Olympia Union Gospel Mission, PO Box 7668, Olympia, WA 98507.
