Bonnie Frazier Shields
August 27th, 1924 - August 25th, 2019
Bonnie Frazier Shields, born August 27, 1924, went to her Savior on August 25, 2019. Bonnie was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all. Though she spent the last 10 years fighting Alzheimer’s, an incredibly devastating disease, she may now rest in peace with her loved ones in Heaven. During WW2, Bonnie worked at the armory in Lexington, riding the bus from Paris and back each day. It wasn’t long before she found herself substitute teaching around Woodford County, then becoming the secretary for the Woodford County Extension Office before advancing yet again to secretary to the Superintendent of Woodford County Schools. Though the job she enjoyed the most and became so passionate about, was her final position with the Bluegrass Area Development Aging Department. Their role was to oversee the senior citizen centers and allocate funds to senior citizens in need, Bonnie was the principle of funds manager. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Crittenden Mahan Shields and her daughter, Sandra Elizabeth Raider. She is survived by her grandsons, Wayne Mahan Raider, Kevin Shawn (Amy) Raider; three great grandchildren, Branden, Isabel, and Caroline Raider; son in law, Gerald Raider; and former granddaughter-in-law, Deborah Jean Raider. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00p, Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill with Rev Dale Raglin officiating, burial will follow at Rose Crest Cemetery, Versailles. Casket Bearers include, Gerald Raider, Wayne Raider, Kevin Raider, and Branden Raider. A Visitation will be held from 12:00p until time of service, at the funeral home. At the conclusion of all services, Wayne would like to invite everyone to his home for refreshments. The address will be available the day of service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial Donations be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association. act.alz.org.
