Brenda Sowers, 76, of Colfax, peacefully went to be with the Lord July 30, 2024. She was born to the late Junious and Ruby Ward on December 14, 1947.
Brenda was a graduate of Croft Business College and spent many years working in transportation and retail. She retired from Kohl’s in 2020.
Brenda is survived by high school sweetheart and husband of 56 years James “Jimmy” Sowers. The two loved golfing, bowling, and most of all their family. She is survived by her two boys James Sowers Jr. and wife Lisa of Troutman, Michael Sowers and wife Sara of High Point and her brother Robert Ward and wife Stephanie of Greensboro. “Mamaw” loved her 5 grandsons, Andrew and wife Rebekah, Luke and wife Miranda, Nate, Alex and Holden. Spending time with and spoiling them was the joy of her life. She also recently added two new joys in her great-grandchildren Dani and Spencer.
Jimmy and Brenda are members of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church in Greensboro.
A funeral service will be held in the sanctuary of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, 4800 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27410 on Saturday, August 3 at 1:00 p.m. Family visitation will be 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
