Brent Christensen
June 10th, 1973 - January 14th, 2016
Brent G. Christensen died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the age of 42 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Brent is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Bender) Christensen of 15 years; parents, Roy and Iola Christensen of Land O Lakes, FL; children Caleb, age 14 and Isabella, age 7; sister, Julie (Christensen) Cupach and brother in law, Matthew Cupach; nephew, Matt Cupach. He is preceded in death by a sister, Jenny; niece, Shelby; paternal grandparents Lowell Christensen and Sarah (Hackwell) Christensen; Maternal grandparents Richard Edward Wolfe and Reba (Coker) Wolfe. Brent was born June 10, 1973 in Ogden, Utah and grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated John Ehret High School in 1991. He married Jennifer in a double wedding ceremony along with his sister, Julie and her husband, Matthew on September 2, 2000. Brent worked in the public sector throughout his career serving as a paramedic in New Orleans, law enforcement in Dallas, Texas and as State Trooper in Ohio. He was employed as a Security Supervisor at Tampa General Hospital. He recently graduated USF with a Bachelor's Degree in Registered Nursing. Many people would be surprised to know that Brent had a life-long, life threatening illness, aside from his cancer. He never once asked "Why me?" He endured it with quiet strength. In his own words (when he was first diagnosed with cancer) he said, "The first thing I did was ask what I needed to learn from the journey I was about to partake in." He personified Bravery and Courage. It was just who he was. He accepted his challenges with dignity and let them head on. Never afraid of anything that came his way, he truly lived his short life to the fullest and completed most of the items on his bucket list. The couple has two children, Caleb and Isabella. His children remember him as a loving father who worked tirelessly to encourage them to pursue their goals. Brent was especially passionate about baseball and supported his son's love of the game. Brent was always present at his son's games and practices and loved to see him play. Brent was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was sealed to his sweetheart in the Dallas, Texas temple on September 8, 2001. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, January 22, 2016 at 7 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - 7851 Lutz Lake Fern Rd., Odessa, FL with calling hours beginning an hour before the service at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchildren, friend, or walk in the woods for a moment, an hour or a day. Time waits for no one. Condolences can be sent to LoylessFuneralHome.com The family would like to especially thank James and Josie Sandifer and their family for their loving and untiring support of Brent and his family throughout the years.
