Brett Steven Woods, 64, passed away in his home in Tucson on April 23, 2024. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 11, 1959, he was preceded in death by his parents Gladys Gwendolyn & Edward Woods, and brother Jeffrey Woods.

Brett attended Cleveland Public Schools where he excelled at math, even winning awards in mental math competitions.  After graduation Brett joined the United States Marine Corps, where he achieved the rank of Corporal.  He married his childhood sweetheart Stephanie in 1980 and raised two daughters.  Brett worked for the Regional Transit Authority in Cleveland as a diesel mechanic and several other jobs before settling in Tucson, Arizona to be near his grandchildren Terrance (TJ) and Brielle.

Brett had a heart of gold, was an avid reader, and loved a good movie.  He was known for his rather acerbic sense of humor which he expressed through his collection of t-shirts printed with cynical or sarcastic sayings.  One of his favorite lines was “I’m not going anywhere – I don’t have anything to wear to a funeral”.  He loved children and spent as much time as possible with his grandchildren.  In recent years he also volunteered at the VA hospital in Tucson.

Brett is survived by daughters Brandi Washington (Terrance) and Jazzmyn Woods, grandchildren Terrance (TJ) and Brielle, siblings Allison Woods Uguru, Hollis Woods-Williams (Terry), brother Brian Woods, ex-wife Stephanie, whom he considered his best friend, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, in Phoenix, Arizona. 85024.
