Brian Lee Desrochers
December 16th, 1976 - August 20th, 2018
Brian Lee Desrochers, 41, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018. Brian was born in Mesa, Arizona on December 16, 1976 to Robert and Cheryl (nee Keil) Desrochers. The family moved to Newburgh, Indiana when Brian was 4 years old. He attended Sharon Elementary, Castle Junior High School, and Castle High School. He graduated from Castle High School in June, 1995. During his years in Newburgh, he played tee ball from 5 years old to Junior High (Age 13). Summers were spent going to All Star games in surrounding cities where he played short stop or first base. During high school, Brian umpired and played recreational baseball. In addition to sports, Brian enjoyed being with a large group of friends. He was very social and liked doing activities that involved other people. After he graduated from Castle High School, he attended USI as a freshman. He transferred the following year to Ivy Technical College. His real dream was to leave Indiana and move to Las Vegas to join his brother Mark, which he did in 1999. Shortly after arriving in Las Vegas, he began working in time share sales. From 2002 -2018 he worked for Summer Point Resorts at Club de Soleil and then Tahiti Village Resort when it opened in 2006. He was working there at the time of his death. On Saturday, August 13, 2011 Brian married Laurel Mallo at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino. His new family included not only his wife, but her two children, Alexandra and Vincent DeCapua. Brian and Laurel not only worked together, but spent many weekends entertaining family and friends. Although Brian and Laurel were no longer married at the time of his death, he kept close contact with her, as well as, Alex and Vincent whom he really enjoyed. His love of baseball continued as he grew older, and he attended St. Louis Cardinal Baseball games whenever he could. His interest in sports also included Pro Football, and his favorite team was always the Oakland Raiders. He was very excited about their plan to move to Las Vegas and build a football stadium. Betting in the Sport Books followed as did his enthusiasm for ESPN. He loved all of the Las Vegas attractions: entertainment, sports and restaurants. In 2017, Brian received two awards from Tahiti Village: The one million in sales award and Tahiti employee of the year. He was very proud of these awards and showed them to family and friends. Brian will be missed. He loved life, lived in the present, and did not let setbacks get him down. He knew how to make the most of his natural talent for sales, but it is his ability to light up the room that will keep his memory alive. Brian is survived by his parents, Bob and Cheryl Desrochers of Las Vegas, his siblings, Lisa Pearsall (Marc) of Tempe, Arizona, and Mark Desrochers of Las Vegas, his nephew Nicholas Desrochers of Las Vegas, and 2 nieces Madison Pearsall and Emma Pearsall of Tempe, Arizona. Funeral Services will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 with Father Bill Kenny officiating. Visitation will take place in the vestibule of the church from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM followed by a Funeral Mass at 3:00 PM in the church. Memorial contribution may be made to St. Labre Indian School, PO Box 216, Ashland Montana 59003-9989. (http://www.stlabre.org/)
