Brooke Lauren Taylor, age 26, of Nampa, Idaho passed away suddenly on Sept. 28, 2024, in Nampa, ID. Brooke was born on March 15, 1998, in Phoenix, Arizona along with her twin brother Morgan. Brooke is the daughter of Patty (Laskovsky) Taylor and Jay Taylor.

Brooke spent her first 18 years in Phoenix and attended Little Sprouts and Triple “R” preschools. She then attended Sierra grade school and Altadena middle school before graduating from Desert Vista High school in 2016. She made many dear friends during this time, and was involved in a wide variety of activities including dance, golf, softball, track and basketball.  She also did volunteer work, with her favorite cause being Relay for Life. She also cultivated her love for music, beginning at the age of seven when she learned to play the piano, then adding guitar in high school.

Brooke chose Portland State University in Portland, Oregon for her college years and graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sonic Arts (music production).

She loved Portland’s cooler weather and the beautiful green landscape, flowers, mountains, and yes, even the rain, as they provided such a change from the desert climate in which she grew up. She made many life-long friends in her four years there.

One of her great college friends, Sofia Ricci, said of Brooke, “You are my other half, my sister. When you hear about true love, they are talking about friendship. I love you more than I can even understand; I miss you more than ever; the first day we met was love at first sight and we became immediate best friends.”

Her high school friend, Marissa Cohn, said: “Brooke exuded unconditional love and acceptance, and our friendship was an essential part of who I am today. I have a photo of the two of us on my desk that is a daily reminder of how grateful I am to know such support and comfort.”

And KG O’Neall, a friend from childhood through high school and into college, said, “Brooke was such a huge part of my life, and I feel so fortunate to have had her as my best friend growing up. She touched so many lives and was truly the brightest light.”

Brooke held several part-time jobs during her school years, starting with Ralph Lauren Polo, Free People, and Sony. After graduating during the COVID years she held several part-time jobs while looking for a music job – a goal she had recently realized when she landed an entry-level position in the music industry at a Canadian tour management and promotions company, Dream More. Finally, she also had started a part-time job at the Kona Grill in Meridian, which she loved.

Brooke loved to travel. It started with early trips as a baby and infant to visit family in Chicago, and continued through her first 19 years, through family trips that saw her visit all 50 states with her family.  She also was fortunate to travel to Spain as part an education program after her sophomore year of high school.  She was a skier and snowboarder, which took her to numerous ski resorts in mountain ranges across the western United States.  But her most favorite activity was going to music concerts large and small. She was one of the first Swifties, seeing her show in 2013.

Brooke loved life and all those people that were part of her life; starting with her wonderful brother Morgan since they day they were born, to her newest friends she recently met in Idaho.  Please keep Brooke alive in your hearts and minds by talking and thinking about her, often.

Brooke is survived by her twin brother, Morgan Taylor of Phoenix, AZ; her mother, Patty Taylor (Tony Vevea) of Verrado/Buckeye, AZ; and her father, Jay (Gina) Taylor of Nampa, ID. She is also survived by her first cousin; Sam (Hannah) Verplaetse of Joliet, IL; her aunt Dawn (Steve) Verplaetse of Shorewood, IL; her aunt Sue Laskovsky (Karen Hauser) of Wells, ME; and her uncle Pete Laskovsky of Joliet, IL.  Brooke also has numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins that have been a big part of her life. She also is survived by her beloved cat, Gladys.

Brooke is preceded in death by her aunt Julie Taylor of Seattle, WA; her grandparents Dona and Paul Laskovsky of Shorewood, IL; and her grandparents Carolyn and Frank Taylor of Reno, NV.

Brooke’s ashes will be blessed at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at Grace Bible Church on Lone Star Road in Nampa.

In lieu of flowers, donations to M.A.D.D., the American Cancer Society, and your local Humane Society would be appreciated.
