All Veterans Funeral & Cremation - Centennial
Bruce Ronald Bowman
February 4th, 1945 - December 31st, 2020
Bruce R. Bowman of Colorado Springs, 75, went home to be with the Lord (February 4, 1945 – December 31, 2020). Bruce held a bachelor’s degree in Astronomy from the University of California and master of science degree in Satellite Geodesy and Geophysics from the University of Hawaii. He also completed the Bible College program at Rhema Bible Training College and the School of Biblical Studies and School of Ministerial Training at Victory Christian Fellowship. He dedicated his life to serving Jesus Christ. In recent years, he was an active member of Charis Christian Center while holding home group meetings and altar ministries. He created the operational platform for Victory Christian Fellowship, which is still used today. Bruce developed and taught the Victory School of Biblical Studies and School of Ministerial Training (VSBSSM) curricula. This program has graduated 168,000 students and led many more to dedicate their lives to Jesus Christ. The foundation he established at VSBSSM led to the program becoming a fully accredited school nationally and internationally. Because of his deep commitment to share God’s Word and lead others to Christ, many lives were changed forever. He served our country as a captain in the United States Air Force Office. He was a federal civilian service contractor for more than twenty years. From 2000 to 2013, he was an astrodynamicist for the U.S. Air Force Command and was a senior research scientist in Space Environment Technologies from 2013 to 2020. He received an Air Force Outstanding Senior Civilian Scientist Award in 2007. He was a senior member of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, as well as a member of the Earth Orbiting Satellite Observers Club. He received the 2015 Air Force Analyst Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions and accomplishments. As a young man, he was one of two Americans who were documented as having seen the Russian Sputnik satellite pass over the United States in 1957. He was an avid astronomer and held many astronomy field classes for his family and local schools. He loved round dancing with his wife, Esther, and spending time with family and friends. He will be missed by his wife of 41 years, Esther of Colorado Springs, daughter Michelle and her husband Randy of Vallecito; daughter Carrie and partner Rick of Aurora; son Christopher and his wife Kim of Black Forest; and grandchildren Cristiana, Piper, and Zoe. The family will hold a private service in memory of Bruce. Donations are accepted in lieu of flowers to Charis Christian Center, 10285 Federal Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80908.
