Bruce Anthony Brazil of Ione, CA passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at the age of 57 after a valiant year and a half fight with Cancer. Bruce was surrounded by family, friends his beloved dogs Willie and Byron at the end of his life's journey. He was born in San Jose, CA on July 7, 1958 to the late Donald and Marguerite (Strickland) Brazil. Bruce was the husband of Carrie Lee (Mace) Brazil. He was a 1976 graduate of Ione High school, attended Sierra College and ultimately received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Chico State College. Bruce worked the majority of his working career in the cement industry as a Logistics Manager for Riverside cement a subsidiary of TXI industries and most recently Martin Marietta. Bruce was very active in the community as a 30 plus year member of the Ione Parlor #33 of the Native Sons of the Golden West. He was a member of Rotary International - Ione Rotary, Knights of Columbus 4th degree Sir Knight as well as a member of numerous other Business Organizations. Bruce was a life member of the National Rifle Association, Safari International, Ducks Unlimited, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Bruce was a consummate barbeque cook, enjoying cooking at numerous Native Sons events as well as his passion for supporting the Wounded Warriors Project. In support of his wife, he was the camp cook for some 600 6th graders over a 19 year period at the Lava Beds National Monument. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed big game hunting. He loved packing with his horse Bud and an assorted cast of characters that always came back with a good story if not any wild game. Known as Buck a Boo to his many Nieces, Nephews and grand Nieces/Nephew he was a mentor, a teacher and a good friend to more than he will ever know. Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Carrie; brothers, Jim (Jeanette) Brazil and Garth (Roberta) Brazil; and nieces and nephews, Justin (Ginny) Brazil, Eric (Kayla) Brazil, Haylee Brazil, Lindsey (Rob) Ferguson, Tyler (Ryan) Wilkey, Tim Millington, and Katie Millington. A memorial mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ione, CA at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 25, 2016. Donations may be made to the Lymphoma Society at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O.
