Born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, April 26, 1932. Passed away at the Largo, Medical Center, Largo Florida, March 20, 2023. Bruce was raised in a small oil industry town in northwest Pennsylvania. Following graduation from Titusville high school class of 1950, he attended college at Upsala college in East Orange, New Jersey, obtaining a bachelors degree in English. Following graduation he served his country for four years in the United States Air Force receiving an honorable discharge as a staff sergeant in 1958. He relocated to Florida, and began his teaching career in the Pinellas county school system. In 1960 he married Janet Louise Wallace, also from Titusville, PA. They raised their two daughters, Sally and Ellen and son, Stuart in Seminole Florida. Over a 30 year teaching career Bruce taught at Oak Grove Middle School and televised teaching on WEDU Tampa. One of his fondest memories were the two years the family spent living in American Samoa while teaching on station KVZK. On his return to Florida he continued his teaching career at Seminole High School and Osceola High School. He then began a second career with a Pinellas County blood service, finally retiring in 2013. During his retirement he enjoyed extensive cruise travel with Jan by his side. Bruce was an active member at the Chapel on the Hill church in Seminole for decades. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Ralston Dutton, his mother, Ruth Victoria Swanson Dutton, and his daughter, Sally Anne Rich. He is survived by his brother, Richard Edward Dutton, Janet, his wife of 62 years, his daughter Ellen D. Sadler, son Stuart Edward Dutton, granddaughters, Rachel Keen, Harmony Gibbs, Lauren Reed, Savannah Berardi, Caitlin Dutton-Reaver, and grandson Connor Dutton. Also by his great grandchildren Braden, Mason, Naomi, and Logan Louise. Bruce was a loving husband and father. He was a genuinely wonderful man who touched the lives of so many people. He was loved and cherished by his family and will be sorely missed.
