Bruce E. Smith
June 16th, 1954 - September 15th, 2022
Bruce E. Smith passed away September 15, 2022, in Silverdale, Wash., due to cancer and complications of diabetes. He was born June 16, 1954, to Claus and Berneda (Uphoff) Smith in Peoria, Ill. A resident of Bremerton for the last 13 years, he also lived in St. Louis, Mo., Edwardsville, Ill., and Bartonville, Ill. Bruce graduated from Glasford High School in Glasford, Ill., and Northwestern College in Roseville, Minn., in June 1976. He married Alane (Byard) Kjellberg on March 11, 1989. Professionally, Bruce was a service writer for several dealerships, worked at Comcast, and was a security guard at Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community before he retired. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping, Bible study, and fixing things for other people. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Alane Smith of Bremerton; sons, Joshua Kjellberg of Eureka, Mo., Neil Fox of Minneapolis, Minn., and Benjamin Smith of Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren; sister, Valerie Bussell and her husband, Jeffrey; aunt, Mary; cousin, Merrylee Mullinax; and several nieces and nephews. His parents predeceased him. Memorial donations may be made to the Silverdale Lutheran Church, 11701 Ridgepoint Dr. NW, Silverdale, WA 98383; or Kitsap Rescue Mission, 810 6th St., Bremerton, WA 98337. A memorial service will be held at a future date at Silverdale Lutheran Church. Please leave condolences or share memories and photos on the Tribute Wall to the left.
