Burvis Bryant Hankins "B.B. & Bo" Mr. "Bo" Hankins, 81, of Charlotte died at his residence on Friday, April 26, 2013 with his daughter, son and granddaughter by his side. He fought a long battle with COPD. Survivors include his children, Michael Hankins, Karen Stokes, Mark Hankins, Charlotte H. Chambers and Carey R. Hankins all from Charlotte, NC, and step children Christine P. Hawkins of Jacksonville, Fl and Susan P. Ebbert of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by his sister Polly Beaty of Charlotte, NC, C.W. Hankins of Matthews, NC, Bobbie Stokes of Ridgeland MS, and Sue Kelley of Mobile, Al. He is survived by ten grandchildren, including Jennifer Rhyne who has been like another daughter to him, and five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann Knowles Hankins, his father, Clomie Henry Hankins, his mother, Arlean Sartor Hankins, his sister, Faye Wilkins, stepson, Paul Perry Jr. B.B. was born in Smith County, Mississippi and lived most of his life in Charlotte, NC. He was the owner of Hankins Floor Company until he retired and was a member of Thrift Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, gardening, reading and spending time with his family. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a very loving, generous person, who always put others before him. He will be greatly missed by all who have been a part of his life. A special thanks goes out to all the people at Novant Health (6C) for giving us all the love and care that any patient or family could ask for. You will never be forgotten. Funeral service for Mr. Hankins will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 29, 2013, in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Hankins & Whittington from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Thrift Baptist Church, 8415 Moore's Chapel Rd., Charlotte, NC 28214.
